86 my wonderful bio for ChristineDavid Neuburger is a writer with a day job. Currently, the day job involves a desk and computer and little windowless room at IBM’s Mainframe lab in Poughkeepsie, NY. A native of the Chicago metropolitan area, David spends most of his free time writing fiction in every form imaginable save poetry, which his friends and family are thankful for as the only thing worse than David’s poetry is a swift kick to the no-no spot.

84 Heinlein Society Contest, new novel, and Plato’s CaveFirst, I want to congratulate the winners of the 2008 Heinlein Society Short Story contest. I’m looking forward to reading the winning entries online. Here’s a link to the announcement, better late than never… http://www.heinleinsociety.org/contest.html Work is progressing nicely on the new book. I don’t want to give away too many details about it just yet, but it looks promising and I’m very pleased with how it’s coming together. It also looks like I’ve found a home for Plato’s Cave. I don’t want to say too much yet as the thing isn’t finalized, but it may be in print as soon as January (w00t).

83 meta-rejectionWow, lots of time has past and nothing of note has happened other than more stories and scripts written, more rejections for my collection, and I’m about to start the new novel. Speaking of rejections, I’ve given the New Yorker about a year to send me a formal rejection and haven’t heard anything back. It’s kindof funny really, I lowered my expectations from “publish this” to “send me a rejection letter so I can say I’ve been rejected by the New Yorker” and what I got was a sort of meta-rejection in that I didn’t get anything back from them at all. New Yoker: 1 David: 0 Other than that, the Heinlein contest I entered about a year ago is finally going to announce the winner. The story I sent them wasn’t my strongest work, and I’m looking forward to being able to polish it up and send it out.

81 Welcome to the new and improved DavidNeuburger.comHello to my four loyal readers! I’ve changed the way DN.com looks, as well as the content. Specifically, I’ve transferred all the personal blog-y type stuff to my facebook page. If you want to know what I’m up to, my facebook profile is a good place to go. That, or you can *gasp* use the telephone. What remains here will be information about my writing and film projects.
